One Year Ago

One year ago today a young woman named Shu-Jen gave birth to a beautiful baby boy who is now our son Jakeb. Words cannot express what I feel in my heart for this beautiful woman who sacrificed her own happiness and wants to give her baby boy an opportunity to grow up in a loving family with a mom, dad and two sisters. I hope and pray that she feels peace in her heart and that she knows how much we love her and her sweet baby boy.  We will always honor and cherish her and will always tell Jakeb how much she loves him. 

Every time I look into Jakeb's eyes, I see Shu-Jen.  He looks like her more and more each day.  I think of her often and am so grateful for Jakeb's life!

Going To Taiwan!

Hi Everyone!  We are leaving for Taiwan tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!  Our Gotcha Day will be on Friday, May 6th.  We are so excited to finally meet Jakeb!!!!!  We are so thankful to God that He made a way for us to take our whole family to Taiwan.  We will have all three of our children together in Taiwan on Mother's Day!  What a wonderful Mother's day this is going to be!!!  God knew and YES His timing is PERFECT!!!  Thank you to everyone for your encouragement and prayers.  We could not have made it this far without you!!!  We will try and post some pictures soon!

Preparing Jakeb for Two Sisters!

Hi everyone!  I received this hysterical video today of the Hatcher Sisters preparing Jakeb for his two sisters!  Watch and enjoy!  This brought a smile to my face.  I wonder what dad will say?! :-)  The sweet little girl in the video is Lena!  Isn't she just precious?!

P.S.  We are still waiting for AIT to schedule our visa appointment to bring Jakeb home.  It's been almost five weeks and we are anxious to get him home.  Please say a prayer that we will soon be united with our son.  Thank you so much!

Final Decree!

I received this awesome e-mail from Jakeb on Monday morning!   

"Hey Mom and Dad!!! Yeah, you see this smile

on my face, well it is there for a reason!!!! YES,

YES, YES my aunties got our final decree today!"

"I know you can't read Chinese, neither can I! :) But they say this is the final decree. I'm YOURS!!!!"

"Aunt Holly and Aunt Trena said that you should not start making airline travel arrangements yet. They want to get my AIT appointment time (whatever that is) before you get your airline reservations. They will be in touch with you real soon. If you can't wait I think it would be o.k. for you to e-mail them! I LOVE you and will be in your arms before you know it!!! I'm ready for some mommie/daddy time. I've seen several of my nursery friends leaving the past couple weeks with their forever family, I'm so happy my turn as finally come. Yipeee.....................see you soon!!!"

Happy 4 Month Birthday Jakeb!

Jakeb is 4 months old!  Oh how my heart is melting as I watch this precious video.  Thank you Auntie Christel for spending some time with Jakeb on this special day.  We LOVE the video and will cherish it forever!

Waiting To Exhale!

We are 4 weeks out from our court date and waiting to hear if the judge will require us to travel to Taiwan to meet Jakeb in person before she makes her final decree.   I was reluctant to post this because I don’t want to cause alarm to other families who are in the adoption process.  All cases are different and apparently the judge that is handling Jakeb’s case has this view point.  Holly and Trena are doing all that they can to convince the judge that we know who we are adopting and will not change our minds about Jakeb when we get to Taiwan.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!  We LOVE Jakeb and NOTHING could ever change our minds about him.   If only the judge could see inside of our hearts, she would see that we have so much love and honor for this sweet boy!  As a matter of fact we are so grateful that God gave us Jakeb because we know without a doubt that this is the special blessing that He had planned for our family all along.  Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."  Originally we thought we wanted to have another daughter and pursued our desire BUT God had another plan for us and that was Jakeb.  The thought that we almost missed him because of our own selfish wants scares us so much but we are comforted that God would intervene because He wants to give us His best blessing as long as we listen and follow His plan for our lives and not our own.  Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  Please pray the judge will rule in our favor and know in her heart that Jakeb is loved beyond measure and will grow up and do great and mighty things for the Lord!  We know that God is in control and already knows the outcome.  We just have to be patient and trust Him.  That’s what He wants from us is to solely depend on Him.  Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

Here are some pictures of our sweet Jakeb!  Isn't he just adorable?!  He stayed with a sweet family during the Chinese New Year and received lots of love and snuggle time.  We are so appreciative of this family for loving our boy!
